About Us

Our History: 110 years and still going strong
The North Mecklenburg Woman’s Club–with over 200 members–has a 110+ year history of bringing women together to promote and support social, educational, and civic progress. In 1914, a small group of women became concerned over local needs. Huntersville was not yet a town, and they saw students and families struggling. They also wanted to organize events for enjoyment with each other and their families.
As the years passed, the group led civic programs including beautification projects, war bonds, a new library, rebuilding a kitchen for a house that burned, helping establish a local medical clinic, providing reading tutors, and so much more. The club’s boundaries grew as members joined from all around Lake Norman.
We hold fundraising events, provide support to our schools, participate in community service activities, organize needed collections, and have tons of fun along the way. Through the years, many charities in the Lake Norman area have benefited from the hard work and generosity of our ladies.
